April 29 Message From Rev. Bill

Happy Easter!
Yes, we are still in the Christian season of Easter – and will be until Pentecost! We don’t celebrate like the world does – all excitement until the day of the event, and then move on to something else. Instead, we anticipate Easter for 6 weeks during Lent, and then we have another 7 weeks of joy!

I want to thank Steve Lane for sharing his heart with us last Sunday, and the word seems to be getting out – several people have stepped up and said, “How can I be of service?” (Way to go, Steve!) In the United Methodist Church, EVERY PERSON is considered to be a minister. I may be your ordained clergy, but we are ALL ministers – servants of the Gospel!

Your service to the Lord can be as simple as praying for your neighbor, or as grand as building a cathedral. And the great thing is, God doesn’t expect us all to do the same thing. “Some are called to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some teachers – to equip each other for works of service so that the Body of Christ may be built up…” (Eph. 4:11-12)

Each one of us has a part to play – and they build upon each other. How could the pastor preach if the sanctuary has not been cleaned? How could worship go on if our homebound have not been included through visitation and prayer? How could we have a positive influence on our community if the bills haven’t been paid? Each of us, doing our small part, meshes together with the others so that more people are reached.

You may have heard the phrase, “Your ministry is where your passion and the world’s needs meet.” I believe that – God has gifted you for a service that makes a difference, and will bring you satisfaction and fulfillment. Let the light of Christ continue to shine through you this Easter!
